Meghdoot App to assist Indian farmers
Many existing systems use IT technology to transform their business models and processes. While much is being digitized, the benefits are being permeated by Indian farmers. Farmers need to plan their crops in order to engage in their farming work and cannot ignore the seasonal and climatic conditions. An app called Meghdoot has been developed and announced in order to grasp seasonal trends and utilize them for cultivation planning.
Meghdoot is a joint venture between the Indian Meteorological Department and the Indian Agricultural Research Council. The app provides farmers with accurate forecasts of temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind speed and direction in advance.
With over 10,000 downloads so far, it's very easy to use, all you have to do is register your name and location (to provide real-time location-based updates). The Meghdoot app is easy and free to download from the Play Store (for Andriod users) or Apple Store (for iOS users). Users can also select their preferred language (English by default) (languages that vary by Indian state). As of the launch of the app, it has been introduced in 150 districts, and is being phased out in other regions (one year from now).
Meghdoot has had a major impact on the way the crop harvesting cycle is handled in India. One of the main reasons for the success of this app is its availability in local languages. Both Punjab (northern India) and Telangana (southern) farmers are available, which is very beneficial.
The Location Intelligence app is highly interactive and can be used in each regional language (in India the language is completely different) and also provides information in the form of images, maps and photos. It also integrates with various social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp, where you can share information.
Numerous real-life cases have been observed, most recently suggesting that insecticides be applied to farmers in the Langarededi area in preparation for possible thrips and tick damage. Thanks to timely suggestions, have observed results that help protect in advance.
Given the fact that India is an agricultural country, such apps are very meaningful. At this point, the app's open range is limited, but it is expected that the region will be expanded in the future.
